Forest Park

I was running errands in the Lou recently and couldn’t help but notice the sky was perfect for some Monochrome images out of the Leica Q2. Anyone that knows me also knows that I hate a blue sky. I need clouds. Lots of em’. The “God Sky” as I call it. I bolted the Tiffen Red #25 Filter on the front of the Summilux 28mm in case the sky happened to blue up a little and tossed it in the Lincoln.

I decided to take a spin through forest park to take a image of that new “Artichoke Building” (more in a minute) I discovered from 40 one day while in the Central West End. I was doing my typical cut through Forest Park to get there and was suddenly elated to see the “Looking Up” Sculpture by Tom Friedman sitting in front of the Science Center (Image above). I first saw this sculpture in Manhattan on Park Avenue as I was speeding by in a Taxi thinking, “What the F$%# was that awesome sculpture in the middle of the road doing its impression of ME gazing up at these buildings?”

I did manage to get a shot of the “Artichoke Building” as I call it which is actually some new apartments called “One Hundred Above The Park”. I would love to see developers build some more interesting structures around the city like this with the intention of having one for a city dwelling there someday.
